Configure Company Controls

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Configure Company Controls is the next logical step after Installation and running the Company Setup Wizard. However, you can leave this until later and start right in using FieldOne. We suggest that you review this section.

FieldOne comes with full set of parameterized controls that allow configuring your Company.

Certain controls are better to set up in advance before you begin using the functions and features.
Other controls are not needed before starting work. These maximize the benefits of FieldOne to its full extent. You can add these enhancements as you continue to work with the program.

The controls are found in the General Company Settings (general configurations) and in Lists and Tables (lists of controls for items like Work Orders and Employees).

From the beginning certain company managers should be fully trained regarding the controls, powers and possibilities of the program. They should have a complete understanding of the results obtained throughout the system by using, or not using, the configuration capabilities. These people would maintain the System and Company Setup, the Lists and Tables, and the Employee Security Rights. The remaining employees only need education for the screens used in their daily tasks.

We divide the controls below into those needed at the beginning and those that can be added later. Since each company has different needs, you should review both groups. Some of those suggested for later may be needed right away for your company.

Controls to review and set before "going live":

There are certain settings created automatically during the Company Setup process, for your convenience. You may wish to review and change those predefined settings. In some cases doing this will eliminate the need for manual entries of individual List Table items. Other entries that are not predefined are still desirable to have right from the start and you would do these now.
