Job Types

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Variations in contracts and job requirements often call for different Margins for different Job Types.

You can use similar setups to the "3 building blocks" of Basic Pricing to vary your Job pricing. Perhaps there are Parts Markups and Labor Rates suited to either Service Calls or Projects. You can create these and combine them into meaningful Work Order Types.

Click here for an example showing how you can select a Work Order Type to replace the one that defaults from Company Preferences when you start the Work Order.

Beyond the System defaults:

For instance (names here just used for example):

Getting more specific:

Then again, you may even have several types of Service Calls and Projects. You also may have Campaigns, Service Agreements and Customer Special Pricing. So, giving meaningful names, you create more of the "3 building blocks" and combine them.

Here are more possibilities for the example above, using sample names.

Notice that none of these controls are entered in the general Company Preferences default fields. Being entered in more specific locations, they act as overrides to the Company Preferences, which could still be in place.
