Save and Reuse Layouts

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

You can Save and Reuse Layouts for DataViews. You build and modify Layouts for any DataView, for specific working purposes. Then you use the Save to File option (described below) to name and save them. Thus you can use alternate views for different purposes, even at the same time (see Bottom Tabs for Navigation).

Saved and reused Layouts can also serve as reports, using Print DataView.

Right-click anywhere in the column header section of any DataView to select DataView Layout from the DataView Menu Functions. Click the arrow at the right of the menu to see the four choices for Layouts:

Save Layout

Sets the current Layout as the default for all users for this DataView. (Do not confuse with Save to File below, which is used to save/retrieve alternate Layouts.)

Note: If you select Save Layout, which affects all users, be aware that some filter logic may eliminate records needed by other users of this view.

Reset to default

Restores the Layout to the original design for the screen

Save to file

Saves a particular DataView to a file for future use. You choose the File Name to identify and retrieve this Layout.

Reload from file

Allows users to select customized and stored Layouts for this DataView

When you save and reuse a Layout, this includes the selections used to build it:

Column sorting and position
Columns added or removed (Field Chooser)
Filter entry row
Filter and Customize Logic
Group By selections
Summing Footers
Date/Time Handling
