Advanced Pricing - Background

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This topic is for advanced users. See Basic Pricing and Special Purpose Pricing for ordinary Pricing explanations.

If your Company uses a specialized form of pricing, you may wish to study the topics contained in Advanced Pricing, to see how to implement this and how it will affect "the whole picture" of other pricing that may be in place.

Rules of Pricing
Pricing Tables - Overview

If you are using exceptions and overrides and get unexpected results, that would be another reason to further investigate the pricing structure. For instance:

1.A Customer might have both an Agreement and also Special Pricing for Parts and/or Labor. Since a single Agreement with a Customer is itself specific, Agreement margins prevail over most Customer Special Pricing entries, whether general (like All Parts or Labor) or specific (for a specific Part or Labor Code). (See Pricing Rule 5.)

2.A Campaign might be set up for a certain manufacturer, but one Part has been given a special Markup in Inventory. This might need to be changed.

As explained in Rules of Pricing:

Various types of Customer Pricing usually prevail over everything except a direct manual entry.
Agreement Discounts (found on the Agreement Coverage Tab) function differently because they are applied after the "price" or Unit Sale Amount is determined.

Note: Whatever pricing structure has defaulted onto a Work Order detail line, you can always override the Unit Sale Amount manually. You control access for Employee ability to change the Unit Sale Amount through Employee Security Rights.
